I’m very pleased to provide commercial diving support on the Peel-Harvey Mussel Reef Restoration Project. The trial project is run by The Nature Conservancy with MAFRL contracted to deploy the mussels onto the reefs. Over two days we seeded 10 reefs with 1.5 tonne of mussels. Temporary predator exclusion devices were then installed to reduce the impact of crab and fish predation on the mussels. The project aims to improve water quality, biodiversity and fish/crab populations within the estuary.
